KC Kulish Intl. Award for Excellence in Print Journalism held in Delhi

The Indian Premier. Dr. Manmohan Singh presented the prestigious "Karpoor Chandra Kulish International Award for Excellence in Print Journalism-2009" recently at a glittering award ceremony at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. The ceremony was also attended by Shri B.L. Joshi, Governor of Uttar Pradesh.

The "Karpoor Chandra Kulish International Award for Excellence in Print Journalism-2009" was awarded to the team of 'The New Crusading Guide' a daily newspaper from Ghana, West Africa for their stories on Ghana's Madhouse and Chinese Sex Mafia. The winning team Anas Areneyaw Anas, Mary Fianko Akuffo and Selease Kove- Seyram received a sum of US $11,000, a trophy and individual medals and certificates from the Prime Minister. In addition, seven outstanding stories received a special merit award for their work.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister appreciated Rajasthan Patrika's initiatives and commended them. He also spoke about media's responsibility towards the nation and said that it is the duty of the media to promote constructive issues which are important for all countrymen, especially the socially and economically backward classes.

B L Joshi, Governor of Uttar Pradesh said that Rajasthan Patrika has always strived to inform, educate and entertain, not just the people in Rajasthan alone but of the entire Hindi heartland. He acknowledged that newspaper has always been true to their ideals and has encouraged honest journalism.

Gulab Kothari, Editor, Patrika Group observed that it has been a matter of great pride and honor for him and every body at the Patrika Group that despite all the threats, challenges, temptations, Rajasthan Patrika has stood its ground and stayed true to the ideals instilled by its founder Shri Karpoor Chandra Kulish. He added that he is hopeful that Rajasthan Patrika continues to enjoy the support and love of the entire country and helps people in fighting all kinds of oppression, tyranny and corruption.
