MRUC appoints Hormusji Cama as the new Chairman

Hormusji Cama, Director of Gujarati daily Bombay Samachar, was unanimously elected as the Chairman of Media Research Users Council (MRUC). He replaces Lloyd Mathias who was elected Chairman of MRUC in July 2010, after Andrey Purushottam cut short his term following his resignation from Mahindra & Mahindra.

The board of directors also elected Arvind Sharma, CEO, Leo Burnett India, as Vice-chairman of MRUC, along with Raj Nayak, CEO, Colors, joining the board.

The MRUC chair is rotated every two years between the advertisers and publishers constituencies. Prior to this, Cama was the Vice-chairman of MRUC in March this year, after Bharat Kapadia, Director of Lokmat, resigned from the post. Cama has been in the Board of Governors of MRUC since September 2007; actively involved with various publishing and industry bodies. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors of Press Trust of India and is a former President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS).

Following the IRS-NRS merger by the board, speaking exclusively to Adgully on this occasion, Cama said, "Our current priorities and tasks at hand are working on the Indian Outdoor Survey (IOS), focusing on digital measurement and strengthening IRS and niche magazine segments". Adding further he said, "With the vision of MRUC remaining unchanged, we hope to carry forward the responsibility, ensuring the best in audience research".
