My journey so far has been rewarding: Sandeep Goyal

Dentsu Inc recently purchased the share of 26 per cent equity stakes which was held by Mogae Consultants Pvt Ltd in Dentsu Communications Pvt Ltd, Dentsu Marcom Pvt Ltd and Dentsu Creative Impact Pvt Ltd.

The three companies have been included the larger umbrella of Dentsu India Group so as to strategically further the Debtsu brand's growth in India.

Following this Sandeep Goyal, the incumbent Chairman of the Dentsu India Group, has decided to resign from his position. He will also resign from the boards of the three advertising agencies. However, he will continue to support the Dentsu India Group as its Founder Chairman.

Adgully caught up with Goyal, to find out more about the latest happenings at Dentsu India and about him deciding to bid adieu to the agency. About his resignation Goyal says, "I will certainly be around and be there for the agency. However I will not be heading the board meetings. Besides it has been seven years now and there have been many good team members that the agency has had over the years. I am sure they can take it forward without my handholding too."

"As a joint venture maybe the culture was different and now maybe there will be bit of a new culture that will take on the agency. Now on Dentsu Inc takes over completely and as we all know they have a distinct way of running their agencies globally, so I guess the culture at Dentsu India does not necessarily have to stay as it was until now. Besides for the first seven years any organsation looks at being entrepreneurial, now going forward it will be more stable, more global and bigger," he added.

Goyal feels that maintaining the continuity will be the biggest challenge for the agencies now as the clients will not be able to take a lot of changes within the system and its workings. "At the same time I believe that for a global agency like Dentsu Inc it might take sometime but it will certainly understand the Indian market very efficiently," he added.

Terming as his journey so far as "rewarding", Goyal hopes that the agency grows from strength strength.

Since the establishment of Dentsu Communications and Dentsu Marcom in 2003, and Dentsu Creative Impact in 2005, Dentsu has been steadily expanding its business in India through the three agencies.

It is reportedly believed that Goyal's Mogae Group will further be concentrating on the broadcast industry post his resignation from Dentsu India. Moreover in September last year, Sandeep Goyal's Mogae Group invested in Turmeric Ventures, the company owned by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, which launched a 24Ãâ€'7 television channel dedicated to food in mid January this year. | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
