Nilesh Thakkar to join Aas Paas TV as Dir. Sales & Marketing

Nilesh Thakkar who was working with Associated Broadcasting Co. Pvt Ltd (TV9) as Senior Vice President Sales & Market (All India head) TV 9 news channel, makes a move to Aas Paas TV which is the television division of Gujarat Samachar, one of the known and best selling newspapers in Mumbai and Gujarat. 

 

Confirming the news to Adgully, Nilesh Thakkar said, “I am joining there from 3rd September as the Director Sales Marketing and advertiser funded and financial program. Also since Gujarat Samachar holds its credibility it is a favorable time to come with a news channel. We will also have plans to come up with entertainment programs in coming future.” 

 

The channel plans its launch somewhere in November with a clear focus and plan to cover Gujarat elections which would be taking place in December. He feels that the market and the time seem to be perfect to enter. Also he feels that the competition is less in Gujarati market as compared to Bengali and Marathi market, since both are the cluttered ones.    

 

Though Thakkar refused to talk about the market share and investment till the launch but speaking about the thoughts and strategy in mind, he said, “With more regional channels coming-in, Hindi news channels are losing their hold. Currently, the focus is on News Channel but at the same time we will be having programs as well but the prime focus now is the news channel.”   

 

For records, Thakkar holds over 18 years of experience in media space and has worked with some of the top regional print brands like chitralekha, Manorama. He has also worked with Zee Marathi, Zee Gujarati and Zee Bengali, right from the beginning, for 5years. In Star, Thakkar has worked for 6.5 years as Channel Head in Star Majha and for Star News (now ABP news) and Star Ananda( now ABP Ananda) as all India Head, events and activation.
