OTT on a new high

The OTT (over-the-top) space has been gaining rapid momentum and the entry of new players has intensified the competition. With this, OTT players are seeing an increase in viewership and subscriptions. 

Given the good traction seen for original content on OTT players, there are more frequent new releases seen especially in the month of March. The shows on OTT platforms are increasingly spanning diverse genres – thriller, romance, comedy, drama, action and even food-related shows.

Sone Bhi Do Yaaro

Sone Bhi Do Yaaro is a ZEE 5 original starring Naveen Kasturia, Bharat Thakkar, Druma Mehta, Chandrika Rajan and Pravan Ojha. It’s a Hinglish show severely sleep deprived man tries to catch a few hours of shut-eye before he goes back to work. But the loud snores of his Mamaji won’t let it. As he lifts deliriously between the world of dreams and the real, watch the show to find out what tricks does his mind play on him?

Karenjit Kaur

ZEE 5 is coming up with Sunny Leone’s biopic Karenjit Kaur. In this biopic, Sunny takes us through the epic journey of an adult film actress’s transformation into a Bollywood star. From Karenjit Kaur to Sunny Leone, the episodes showcase her life and struggles in the industry while simultaneously rediscovering her identity.

The Story

Some of the nation’s best storytellers have decided to leave their scripts behind and just this once, let their fans into the stories of their own lives. Having prominent actors like Swara Bhaskar, Shakti Kapoor, Sumeet Vyas and Mallika Sherawat, this ZEE 5 web series tells about the personal tales of the bizarre, the humorous and the terrifying. But when the narrator is himself the storyteller one can’t help but wonder if it was a fiction or fact.

The Remix

Amazon Prime Video’s ‘The Remix’ revolutionizes the concept of music reality shows in India. Prime members can re-discover their favourite Bollywood songs, presented in a whole new light as pairs of one singer and one DJ, battle each week to rejig, reshuffle and remix popular songs and win the coveted prize. The talented contestants will be judged by the biggest names in the music industry- Sunidhi Chauhan, Amit Trivedi, and king of the DJ console, Nucleya; while heartthrob Karan Tacker will add an element of humour as the host of this reality series.

Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai

This ALTBalaji Original is focused on a middle-aged man who decides to turn the course of his life? Starring Ronit Roy, Mona Singh, Gurdeep Kohli in the main leads, the story is of a 40-year-old married man, who is torn between choices, responsibilities and personal need.

Life Sahi Hai Season 2

Launching under the banner of Luv Films, the makers of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 1 and 2, this web series follows the adventures and misadventures of four boys who have just shifted together. This season the boys find themselves in troubles with their girlfriends, bosses, parents, neighbours and even the police. Shameless as ever, they breeze through their problems with the motto- ‘Life Sahi Hai’.

Love, Lust and Confusion

Viu’s original Love, Lust and Confusion is a drama show, about a young girl Poroma, who wants new experiences in her life and records them all in a journal. For the same, she moves to Mumbai and starts living with her friend Molly. Poroma’s interaction with unique characters through the course of this series makes up for all the experiences she has never had. The show also stars Meiyang Chang, Gaurav Chopra and Samir Kochhar in significant roles.

Lockdown

Produced by Badshah’s production house Afterhours and One Digital Entertainment this is a kind of a reality show where mainstream meets Indie and celluloid meets YouTube. This ZEE 5 show will have singers Badshah, Raftar, Kailash Kher, Shekhar Ravjiani, Shirley Setia and many more. Each episode brings together a celebrated Bollywood singer with a YouTube singing sensation. Locked in one location for a day, these musical masterminds clash and collaborate to recreate two songs.

Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat Season 2

Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat Season 2 is back on ALT Balaji with the same casts- actors Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar in the leads. Streaming since February end, the show explores more on how their romance blossoms and thrills the audience with their contrasting lives.

It Happened in Hong Kong

This web series is the story of two Indians who meet on a trip to Hong Kong and decide to explore the country together. They develop a friendship on the trip but it is short-lived as they are hiding secrets from each other. Streaming on Viu since March 9, it stars Aahana Kumra of Lipstick Under My Burkha fame and Amol Parashar.
