Sachin Das Burma bids adieu to JWT!

Sachin Das Burma, creative consultant, JWT, has decided to  move on after spending six years at the agency. 15th January 2013, was his last working day at JWT. He began his  career with Ushak Kaal in 1996 and then moved on to Contract Advertising in 2000.  A couple of years later he joined Bates India where he spent five and half years working on brands like Nokia, Carrier Air conditioners, Indian Airlines and Hyundai. After this came his decision to move to JWT.

Adgully caught up with Sachin Burma, to learn more about his journey at JWT and also his   plans for the future.  Some excerpts from the conversation:

Defining his stint with JWT, he said, “It has been a wonderful 6 years with JWT. It gave me the opportunity to work on a wide spectrum of brands like Slice, Mountain Dew, Mirinda, Hero, Airtel, Iodex, Timex etc.  JWT being a huge agency, it helped me learn a lot from so many interesting people around, which I am sure will be of great help in my journey ahead.”

When asked to share some key high points of his journey with JWT, Burma told us that winning India’s only Film Silver at Adfest a couple of years back was a big high. Then winning silver effies for 3 consecutive years for Slice Aamsutra, Hero NXG Yaari ki Gaadi and Airtel money also made his journey at JWT quite memorable.

With regard to his career profile, Burma has been in the advertising business for good time now and sharing his overall experience working with/in the  advertising space, Burma says, “It has been a wonderful journey till now, and hopefully the future will be as exciting. The kick of cracking a brief, the entire creative journey to seeing the end product on television, print, radio or outdoors, is something that is just amazing. Though, the learning process still continues.”

His best works mark the re-launch of Hero CBZ Xtreme, the launch of Slice Aamsutra, Timex Conversation Starters, the launch of Airtel money and Airtel music campaigns etc. to name a few.

Speaking about his future plans  Burma concluded to say “As of now, I plan to take a break for some time and give a real hard thought as to where to go from here…It could be starting something on my own, writing a feature or joining a film production house and learn directing etc.”

For information and records, some of the national and international awards won by him are D&AD, Adfest, New York Fest, Abbys, Goafest metals and of course, the 3 Effies. After spending such striking years at JWT, we at Adgully wish him success and  good luck for the future.
