Spirit W | Advertising always fascinated me: Curry Nation's Priti Nair

Priti Nair, started her career with DART advertising which was the best thing that happened to her because she learnt the 'actual' business there, she says, "Thanks to Mrs Dutta the owner who gave even a junior person the canvas to grow." After a year she joined Leo Burnett, then Chaitra and grew from being a copywriter to creative director in the 7 years that she was there. Nair was blessed to have chax as her boss who really groomed her about being an honest, dedicated and creative person. After that Nair went to Lowe and again was blessed with Balki as her boss who helped her push the limits on what she could do. She was there for 9 years followed by Grey and then BBH. Now she has her own baby "Curry-Nation.' Being a true patriot she named her agency, 'Curry Nation', as a celebration of Indian Culture.

Adgully caught up with Priti Nair, Founder, Curry Nation, to understand more of the person, a delightful career journey and the 'woman' in her.

Curry Nation, started in January and the first founding clients was Emami. She says, "Hats off to them for the faith they put in me. I will take this feeling of gratitude to my deathbed. It's overwhelming when a client gives you three brands solely on trust in today's day and age. Where all you have to do is prove yourself, your honesty and your intent." The next client in their kitty is Cavin Kare!

Priti Nair completed her English literature and found that her options in hand after graduation, were teaching. But for this she had to do two more years of MA which she did not wish to do. Journalism was another option, but she was not so keen on taking it up. Advertising, is one thing which always fascinated her as it does all starry eyed people even today. | By Aanchal Kohli [aanchal(at)adgully.com]
