Woodland partners with UNICEF; launches Design4UNICEF campaign

It has been a conscious decision by the founders of Woodland to imbibe CSR as an integral part of the brand's core identity. To realize this vision, Woodland has initiated host of CSR activities ranging from the upliftment of the underprivileged to preservation of nature.  In a bid to achieve more through its efforts, the Global Outdoor and Adventure wear brand  is further strengthening  its support to UNICEF’s work for children in India to provide safe drinking water to underprivileged families. Entering their partnership with UNICEF for the third consecutive year, they will together advocate the importance of safe drinking water and sanitation under their WASH campaign

About a quarter of deaths of children under the age of five in India are due to diarrhea due to lack of safe drinking water, proper sanitation and hygiene. Woodland's

sustainability initiative 'ProPlanet', encourages every Woodland customer to donate at the billing counter and support the program generously. Over the last two years customers have already contributed 12.5 million rupees - the support growing day-by-day since every Woodlander is concerned and is inclined to support the cause.

Woodlands aims to generate more funds at the start of the third year of their partnership with UNICEF, thus augmenting the generous cash collections already made earlier by like-minded Woodlanders. Woodland has initiated a unique online T-Shirt Design Initiative ‘Design4UNICEF’. Using the application tools available on the website, https://www.design4unicef.in/ one can design their own T-Shirt Design, on the theme of safe drinking water and sanitation. If the selected design speaks aloud and leaves an impact, it will be selected for production and sold at Woodland stores. The proceeds from the sale of the winning designs will be donated to UNICEF India for their WASH programme running across the country.

Commenting on this unique campaign Mr. Harkirat Singh, Managing Director, Woodland said, “This is the 3rd year of our partnership and I am glad we have come a long way. The partnership has given us an opportunity to improve the lives of people by giving them better water and sanitation facilities also helped us in driving the society towards a healthy and positive life. The task at hand is huge and we want to maximize our support to ensure that not a single child is left behind without safe drinking water and proper sanitation. The WASH program has been a great forum for us to showcase our sustainability initiatives and we hope that this T-shirt designing contest will help us to generate further visibility, awareness and support for this critical cause.”

The procedure to participate in this online design competition involves registering and uploading one’s respective designs. The shortlisted entries will be scrutinized by a panel following which one winning entry will be sold at Woodland stores from April 2014 onwards.
The 'Design4UNICEF' initiative will accept entries till 28th February 2014 and results are expected to be declared on World Water Day on March 22nd  2014. The best design will be chosen by a jury of experts and will be commercially sold across the 500-strong chain of Woodland stores as a limited edition line.
