Adgully Exclusive | It will never be a goodbye to the vision: Raj Nayak

"Trust is the key to all relationships and "Doubt" is the lock to all thoughts." - is what Raj Nayak rightly put in one of his tweets. As late on a Monday morning news started flowing in that Nayak has joined CEO in the second best GEC in the country today- Colors, the question hanging around was what happens to Aidem Ventures now.

The company's site reads that Aidem means- "It's the true reflection of MEDIA", a year into operations the company has now faced this big development. The new announcement follows the news that came out in March about the company losing out on advertising sales account of NDTV news.

Adgully caught up with the man himself, and here is what he had to say:

Speaking about the team at Aidem, Nayak says, "The team is already discussing amongst themselves. They will re-engineer the whole business and are looking at restructuring it. The whole focus may change depending on how things evolve over a span of time. Besides Aidem has a very professional team in place, the first and foremost thing for the team is to assure the stakholders that each and everybody's interest will be protected and respected."

Nayak adds that in the next two or three months the team might come up with a potentially restructured plan of action. Talking about taking the decision to join Colors, he says, "Firstly it was a very exciting opportunity and it came to me at the right time. I have always admired Colors and the way its team functions."

So when we ask him will there be a bit of handholding that shall continue for Aidem, he adds that Aidem has been functioning very independently and on its own since the start. "By default or design people have attributed it to me but it is so professionally managed that it can lead its own way."

On the other hand media planners say that for a reverred figure like Nayak to have decided on the new move, it would be only after a thorough thought process. But they also point out that since the beginning Aidem and Nayak were never seen as two different entities.

However a senior team member at Aidem says that though Nayak has been holding internal meetings and meeting teams nobody is really clear about what happens next. The team has no clarity as they say on the period of the publishers' agreement with the organisation. While it can be noted that according to company insiders over the past few months Aidem saw high attrition.

While media industry is abuzz with Nayak's movement there has been no "official" announcement about him exiting Aidem and about the new leader who will join the company as its Managing Director. It will be interesting to follow up the developments over the week and then report on some more facts. So keep watching this space for more. | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
