BARC Wk 48: Decline in viewership for most Hindi GECs; Dangal remains firm

BARC India data for Week 48 (Saturday, November 23 to Friday, November 29) of 2019 shows no major upheavals in the rankings of the Top 10 Hindi GECs [HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 2+ Individuals]. However, most channels witnessed decline in their gross viewerships, even as Dangal TV continued to fortify its position among Hindi GECs in all platform.

Dangal TV continued to put up a strong show as it saw an increase in its gross viewership yet again in Week 48 at 1,181,474, slightly up from 1,179,064 recorded last week. The channel maintained its hold on the numero uno position this week as well. 

Star Plus, which overtook Sony SAB last week to be placed at No. 2, continued in this position in Week 48 as well. However, the channel witnessed a slight decline in its gross viewership at 682,152, from 696,143 recorded last week. 

Sony SAB, which slid a notch to the third spot in Week 47, remained unchanged, while registering a further decline in its gross viewership – from 628,896 in Week 47 to 608,366 recorded this week. 

There was no change in the rankings of Zee TV, Colors, Sony Entertainment Television, Big Magic and Star Bharat as well in Week 48, which continued at No. 4, No. 5, No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Zee TV, Colors, Sony Entertainment Television, and Big Magic saw a decline in their gross viewership. 

Zee TV recorded a gross viewership of 600,399, compared to 609,597 recorded in Week 47. Colors registered a decline in its gross viewership to 537,344, from 558,278 recorded last week. Sony Entertainment Television’s gross viewership declined from 535,514 last week to 502,121 in Week 48. Big Magic’s gross viewership fell from 470,004 in Week 47 to 443,528 this week. 

On the other hand, Star Bharat saw an increase in its gross viewership to 297,846, from 292,995 recorded last week. 

This week, Colors Rishtey and Star Utsav switched places. While Star Utsav climbed up a notch to No. 9, Colors Rishtey slipped a notch to the tenth spot in Week 48. Star Utsav saw gains in its gross viewership this week, garnering 183,197, as against 164,618 recorded in Week 47. On the other hand, Colors Rishtey saw a decline in its gross viewership to 150,552, from 171,323 recorded last week.
