BIG CBS to focus on crime-thrillers, reality shows; Launches Dexter

This monsoon, it’s cold blooded murders, psycho serial killers and blood splatter analyst who will be the flavor of BIG CBS PRIME, India’s leading English general entertainment channel offering the Latest, Freshest, Hottest shows to the urban Indian male. The channel brings to you a psychological crime thriller show –  Dexter. Starting July 9, BIG CBS PRIME will air seasons 1 to 4 back-to-back of the super hit series from Monday to Thursday at 10 P.M.
 
Dexter is based on the compelling novel “Darkly Dreaming Dexter” by Jeff Lindsay, a South Florida native. Orphaned at the age of four and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter is adopted by a police officer who recognizes Dexter’s homicidal tendencies and guides his son to channel his gruesome passion for human vivisection in a constructive way - by killing those heinous perpetrators who are above the law or who have slipped through the cracks of justice. A respected member of the police force, a perfect gentleman and a man with a soft spot for children, it's hard not to like Dexter, a serial killer with standards. Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he struggles to emulate normal emotions he doesn't feel, and to keep up his appearance as a caring, socially responsible human being.
 
Commenting on the marketing of the new show, BIG CBS' spokeperson said, “the launch of the new show creates a crime/thriller band for the Channel on week-nights 10 pm slot. The show is being robustly marketed on our own TV network, radio and digitally.”  
 
He further added that “the channel is also looking at building further engagement with audiences around the show which include on-screen innovations.” These include a whole host of impact elements including stylized promo cuts that introduce ‘the world’s favorite serial killer’ to the viewers, curiosity arousing on-screen bugs and countdown spots. In the social media space too BIG CBS will host a whole lot of interesting innovations to be able to engage with the audiences through interesting trivia, contests and more. Besides there are plans to exclusively tie-up and screen Dexter with a leading coffee chain.
 
BIG CBS has clearly identified its focus areas. Says the spokesperson, “Our focus would be on high-demand genres that include crime/thrillers, reality shows and edgy content. We will be showcasing some latest seasons and also some other new shows very soon.” The aim of the channel will be to ensure that it is engaging with its key target audiences with innovative, engaging and relevant shows. The latest seasons of global hit shows like Blue Bloods, Survivor and more will also soon premier on the channel.
 
 The channel’s strategy for the year is to engage the premium audience that BIG CBS targets through multiple touch points. High-end ground connect initiatives integrated with on-air content is another key avenue it plans to explore.
