Tarun Katial betting big on BIG CBS' America's Got Talent 6

Big CBS Network, the joint venture between Reliance Broadcast Network Limited and CBS Studios International, is all set to air the latest season of the extremely popular reality talent show, America’s Got Talent – Season 6. The Network has signed a deal with Fremantle to acquire the telecast rights for the show which will be simulcast across the BIG CBS Network Channels – BIG CBS PRIME, BIG CBS LOVE and BIG CBS SPARK. The show will feature the most unique talent, where participants will compete not just to be the best in the United States, but also for the top prize of one million USD. The show launches on July 30 and will air every Monday to Thursday at 9 pm.
 
Adgully caught up with Tarun Katial, CEO ,Reliance Broadcast Network Limited as he reveals interesting insights into the popular show.
 
Explaining the thought process on choosing the show Mr. Katyal  said, “We always look for interesting and engaging content for our viewers. It is of utmost importance to us to understand the viewing taste of the audience before we bring a show to India. America’s Got Talent is a show which, basis research, suits our audiences perfectly. We at BIG CBS Network are committed to showcase variety of content on all our three channels – BIG CBS PRIME, BIG CBS LOVE and BIG CBS SPARK. All three channels have different target audience and positioning; catering to different needs of the viewers. America’s Got Talent will certainly give an extra push to the overall viewership. It’s is a show that blends perfectly with the taste of Indian viewers.”
 
America’s Got Talent is an extremely popular show internationally. In the past, the show has enjoyed superb ratings ranging from 9 million viewers to as many as 16 million viewers.
 
Speaking about the ratings that they expect for the show in India, Mr. Katyal said, “With a brand name like America’s Got Talent we are confident that the show will do really well in India. The show has an excellent quality of entertainment. It’s a show that will cater to the viewing needs of our target audience.”
 
Commenting on the increasing demand for foreign content on Indian television and its appeal to Indian audiences, he said, “The demand for foreign content in India has grown over the last couple of years, especially in the urban markets. With wider global travel by consumers leading to more awareness and exposure through the internet and social media, audiences are aware of the latest in Global entertainment. They want to be at par with their global counterparts and hence seek the entertainment alongside. Today, we see movies, books etc. all seeing global premiers and the same is expected from television too.”
 
Elaborating on the marketing initiatives for the show, he said, “We plan to engage viewers in a multimedia holistic marketing campaign across multiple touch points ranging from radio, television, OOH and social media to promote the show.”
 
Talking about the digital innovations that have been undertaken for the show, Mr. Katyal said, “For America’s Got Talent, we are creating a Facebook application which will enable the users to upload their talent on our page. The winner will bag a chance to get featured on BIG CBS channels. Along with this we are also doing some interesting on-ground activities to engage viewers and create better recall for the show.”
 
The sixth season of  America's Got Talent will see high profile judges Howie Mandel, Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan. The three renowned judges come back for the sixth series in search of the hottest variety and novelty acts from across the US. With acts ranging from the weird to the spectacular, the quest is on to find the best talent on offer.
