Brands celebrate Onam

Onam, the annual cultural festival, is celebrated by the Malayalis in Kerala. It commemorates the homecoming of the kind-hearted king Mahabali and the harvest season of Kerala. The festival  lasts for ten days beginning on Atham, and ending on Thiruvonam, and is celebrated with fervour and gaiety. Onam is celebrated in memory of the good governance under the mythical king of Kerala. Onam also marks the beginning of Kolla Varsham, the Malayalam year. It is said that the gods conspired against Mahabali, due to his growing popularity and sent Lord Vishnu disguised as a dwarf Brahmin, Vamana, who asked for three pieces of land from Mahabali. The latter also extended to offer his own head to Vamana, which impressed him and letting Mahabali to visit his kingdom during the festivities of Onam every year.
