The workshop revealed valuable insights into some of the most successful social media marketing initiatives. Adgully spoke to a few participants to know what were the take-aways at DMAi 2012.

Deepali Naair-Country Head- Brand and Corporate Communications, L&T Insurance said,”The line-up of speakers at DMAi has been better than many other conferences that I have attended. The kind of sessions and interactions that DMAi put forward are truly commendable.”Deepali remarked that Michael Leander’s session in particular has been fantastic in terms of the examples shared. Speaking about some of the key insights gained at DMAi 2012, she said, “There were two insights that many speakers including myself have talked about. Firstly, you need to get the buying of the boards into digital and direct marketing. I believe that the marketing teams themselves need to first dabble into the digital medium and learn it personally before hiring an agency to get the work done.  Deepali also recalled what Ajay Row said at one of the sessions. He said that ”The roots of digital also lie in direct marketing more than they lie in traditional advertising based communication.” Deepali could not agree more.

Expressing her opinion on the future of direct marketing, she said, “Direct marketing and digital marketing have a great future. They are very much inter-related and their principles are the same; only the media changes.”

Sandeep Verma- CEO, SPAR KROGNOS who attended Michael Leander’s masterclass said,”It helped in understanding the mechanics of social media and direct marketing. It also delved into how different companies and benchmark companies have roped in social media to shape up their business.”

“I need to do it myself. I need to get my hands dirty is what I have gained from the seminar,” said Sandeep. He also exclaims that direct marketing has huge potential and enormous growth awaits direct marketing in the future.

Sanjay Tripathi - EVP - Marketing & Direct Sales, HDFC Life; who was also a speaker and panelist at DMAi exclaimed, “DMAi 2012 provided good content and had an extremely good set of international speakers. The event was very relevant for marketing professionals.”
