Instagram testing feature to convert video uploads into reels

Instagram, which is owned by Meta, has acknowledged that it is developing a feature that converts video uploads into Reels.

According to TechCrunch, the update is part of Instagram's effort to simplify video on the platform and is presently being tested with select users across the world.

"We are testing this functionality as part of our efforts to simplify and improve the video experience on Instagram," a Meta spokeswoman said via email.

According to a snapshot uploaded on Twitter by social media strategist Matt Navarra, participants in the test would get an in-app notice that reads "video posts are now shared as Reels."

According to the article, if your account is public and you publish a video that is later transformed into a Reel, anybody may discover your Reel and utilise your original audio to make their own Reel.

It noted that if your account is set to private, your Reel would only be available to your followers.

If your account is public, anyone may build a remix with your Reel after you submit it, according to the warning. However, you may disable remixing of your Reels in your account options.
