RNI issues notice for publishers

Registrar of Newspapers for India, vide advisory dated 30.03.2022, has intimated that the RNI portal for e-filing of Annual Statements for the financial year 2021-22 will be opened from 01.04.2022. The last date for e-filing of Annual Statements is 31.05.2022.

Under Section 19 - D of the Press & Registration of Books Act (PRB Act), 1867, every publisher of every newspaper is bound to furnish to the Press Registrar an annual statement of their respective publications. Non-filling of annual statements leads to violation of the mentioned section.

Publishers who have not filled their annual statements for previous years (2018-19 to 2020-21) can do so in the e-filling portal with a fine of Rs 1000/- per year for non-filling of annual statement.
