Snapchat celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi with its Augmented Reality Lenses

Get ready for a unique Ganesh Chaturthi experience! Snapchat is introducing three fun AR lenses to add a cool tech twist to the festival. These lenses, including the Modak Run Lens, Bappa Aarti Lens, and Visarjan Beach Care Lens, mix tradition and innovation, letting users join the celebrations in fun and interactive ways.

Experience Ganesh Chaturthi in a whole new way with Snapchat's Modak Run Lens. This AR game lens lets you step into a virtual world where you guide Mushakraj on a quest to collect modaks for Lord Ganesha. It's more than just a game; it's a joyful tribute that blends devotion with fun.

For those seeking a deeper connection, Snapchat is introducing the Bappa Aarti Lens. With the Aarti Lens, you can engage in a virtual aarti ritual, offering a variety of items to Lord Ganesha by simply holding up a Ganpati idol or photo and watching as the lens brings the sacred elements to life. With the Pandal Lens, you can virtually immerse yourself in the excitement of pandal hopping, all from the palm of your hand. It's a unique and immersive way to celebrate this sacred festival.

This year, Snapchat is collaborating with the Khushiyaan Foundation and their Beach Warriors project to underscore the significance of environmental responsibility following Ganesh Visarjan. As part of this collaboration, Snapchat is introducing an engaging and gamified Visarjan Beach Care Lens, specifically designed to enable people to engage in virtual clean-up drives with the intent to motivate them to participate in real-world cleanup efforts.  Snapchatters who complete the beach clean-up challenge using this lens will be rewarded with a "Beach Warrior" badge. The Khushiyaan Foundation's Beach Warriors initiative has been at the forefront of organizing India's most extensive beach cleanup drives for the past six years, boasting an impressive record of 284 weeks of aggressive cleanup, which has resulted in preventing more than 4000 tons of plastic from entering the ocean. This year, their cleanup drives will be held at Dadar and Juhu in Mumbai from the 21st to the 29th of September, further emphasizing the importance of post-Ganesh Visarjan environmental responsibility.

Furthermore, Snapchat will feature the top snaps captured by Snapchatters along the iconic beaches of Dadar, Juhu, and Versova during the Visarjan period. This unique showcase on Snap Maps aims to capture the vibrant spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi, highlighting the diverse and captivating moments shared by the community on these beaches.
