Sterling Holidays inducts three new board members

Sterling Holiday Resorts (India) Limited (STERLINH), India’s leading Vacation Ownership & Leisure Hospitality Company, announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Mahendra Kumar Sharma, Pradipta K. Mohapatra and Anil Kumar Madhok. This follows the initiation in February of a merger between Thomas Cook (India) Ltd. (TCIL),  India’s leading integrated travel and travel related financial services company, and Sterling Holiday Resorts (India) Limited.

M. K. Sharma is an industry veteran with 40 years of experience. He was on the Board of Hindustan Lever Limited since August 1995 and was the vice Chairman from April 2000 till May 2007. He is currently on the Board of various national and international companies. He is the non-Executive Chairman of Thomas Cook since December 2010. Mr. Sharma is also actively involved in various industry associations. Pradipta K. Mohapatra has over three decades of experience in managing large Indian businesses as well as British, American, and Japanese joint venture companies in India. He pioneered  India's  foray  into  modern  organized retailing  as well  as early  digital  media  and e­commerce. He sits on the board of 20 publicly listed as well as private companies in India, Sri Lanka, Japan, China, UK and USA. Anil Madhok founded Sarovar Hotels in 1994. The company has carved a niche in the mid-market and budget hotels category in India and continues to be at the forefront of Indian hospitality. Earlier, Mr. Madhok was associated with the Oberoi Hotels for 25 years in diverse roles including Vice President - Operations, for Western and Northern Regions and as General Manager of Oberoi Group hotels in Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Harsha Raghavan, Managing Director & CEO of Fairbridge Capital Private Limited (a Mumbai-based wholly owned investment management company of Fairfax Financial Holdings), and Mr. Madhavan Menon, Managing Director, Thomas Cook have also joined Sterling Holiday Resorts as Directors on the Board. Mr. Raghavan is responsible for Fairfax's investments in the Indian region, and also supports global portfolio companies on their growth initiatives in the region and Madhavan Menon has led Thomas Cook (India) Ltd as Managing Director since 2006. With over 33 years of work experience under his belt, Mr. Menon’s career has spanned across Banking, Finance, Foreign Exchange and Travel and Travel Related Financial Services.
