There will be no disruption in TV services: TRAI

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released a press statement in lieu of cable service providers threatening a blackout before 29th January 2018 when the new tariff regime comes into effect. The statement read “The Authority is seized of the matter and hereby advises that all Broadcasters/DPOs/LCOs will ensure that any channel a consumer is watching today is not discontinued on 29.12.2018. Hence, there will be no disruption of TV services due to implementation of regulatory framework.”

The TRAI had released an implementation schedule prescribing to the new regulatory framework. The schedule mandated that service providers be prepared to migrate to the new framework by 28th December 2018.
