Time to learn different strategies to monetise digital content: Satya Raghavan

With the burgeoning content on digital media, it has become imperative to know how to effectively monetise digital content. According to Satya Raghavan, Head of Entertainment, YouTube India, it is time to learn some different strategies and techniques to monetise digital content.

Stressing on the need to use native wherever possible to create content, Raghavan noted that more and more Internet users are watching online videos, and added that there was growing demand for native content.

While speaking at the recently concluded Social Media Week in Mumbai, Raghavan stated that YouTube has a one-track engagement with the audience, and added that content creation on platforms like YouTube is very easy.

He further said that the most popular categories on YouTube include Movies, TV, News/ Sports, followed by Comedy, Food, Beauty, Technology, Music, Kids, Short films/ series.

He also observed that there was growing use of the mobile phones to both watch online videos as well as create videos. “Most YouTube users just use a phone to create awesome videos, without spending much on location, and it’s easy to make money from the first view.” On a lighter vein he quipped, “The old age folks use to take birth with a silver spoon, and now the new age takes birth with a silver iPad!”

His advice to content creators was “Create great content, get exposed, make money with the advertisers”.
