TV this week: Robot helps SET scrape through

This week Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has seen a leap in its Gross Rating Points (GRP) and Channel Share (CS), thanks to the telecast of Rajnikant starrer movie Robot (TVR 5.43 %). The channel at number four position has seen an increase by 50 GRP and 3.5% of CS. The movie telecast placed itself second on the list of top 10 shows across GECs and helped the channel cope with its weak performance over the past few weeks.

Star Plus maintaining its number one position reports an increased GRP and CS is 305 and 23.9%. Star Plus this time around has three of its shows amongst the top 10 shows across channels. Saathiya Saath Nibhana , Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hain and Sasuraal Genda Phool from Star Plus have made it to the list of the top 10 shows.

Colors is at number two with an increased GRP and CS of 257 and 20.1% respectively. Moreover, this week Balika Vadhu (TVR-4.7%), Uttaran (TVR- 4.7%), Laagi Tujhse Lagan (TVR-4.62%) and Na Aana Is Des Meri Laado (TVR- 4.07%) from Colors' wide offering are amongst the top 10 shows and placed at number 4, 5 and 6 respectively.

Zee TV on the other hand is the number three GEC and has a GRP and CS of 207 and 16.2% respectively. Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta is the top show across all GECs this week too. The show is placed at number one this time with a reduced TVR of 5.67%. The only other show from the channel's offering Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli (TVR- 3.83%) is placed at number 10 on the list of the Top 10 shows.

While SAB has been able to maintain the number five position with a decent Channel Share (CS) of 10.7%, its Gross Rating Points (GRP) has been increased to 136.

This week the World Cup match between England and West Indies got Star Cricket and Star Sports a TVR of 1.39% and 0.84% respectively. While Star Cricket's reach was about 16%, Star Sports' reach was around 10%.

The spectacular match between Pakistan and Australia where the Aussies lost to the men in green, got a TVR of 1.45% (Star Cricket) and 0.83% (Star Sports). Star Cricket's reach was around 29,731,000 homes and Star Sports' reach was around 16,562,000 homes. | By Prabha Hegde [prabha(at)adgully.com]
