94.3 MY FM awarded as Best issue based radio program' by Laadli

94.3 MY FM’s Satakshi initiative has been awarded as “Best issue based radio program” by Population First NGO which runs the LAADLI campaign in (Media and advertising awards for gender sensitivity) category. Satakshi a 94.3 MY FM’s initiative where the team helped an orphan child reach a non-governmental organization. On 31st Aug ’12, a baby girl was found helplessly crying in a dustbin at outskirts of The Pink City, Jaipur. MY FM decided to highlight the vicious act and sensitize the society towards girl child and to take up the story in a big way.

MY FM carried her story on air, beginning the task of getting the baby into safe hands. Firstly with help of listeners MY FM named her ‘Satakshi’ someone who is born in bushes. Then, MY FM helped find a sponsor for her education & medical aid and instantly one of the best school & medical hospital in town agreed to the proposal and sponsored her education and medical insurance. The activity culminated with MY FM finding the right set of people who adopted Satakshi.

The Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity highlighted, acknowledged and celebrated the commendable efforts by various media at providing gender-just perspectives, portrayals and analysis. The focus of the awards was on mainstreaming gender into media and promoting gender sensitivity as a core value in reporting and programming.

MY FM CEO Harrish M Bhatia, resonated these sentiments by saying, “ We at MY FM believe that all individuals and organizations have a responsibility towards the society we live in and Satakshi campaign was our way of  the doing our bit. The story of Satakshi particularly touched us. It is sad that despite the growth our country has achieved in all spheres such incidents do happen. The issue of gender sensitization is very critical and we did our bit to highlight it.”
