Elon Musk to auction Twitter's blue bird logo

In a bold move following Twitter's transformation into 'X', tech magnate Elon Musk has announced an auction featuring a range of items that pay homage to the iconic blue bird logo, which once represented the social media giant's former identity.

Musk's decisive action to auction off Twitter memorabilia underscores his efforts to distance the platform from its previous incarnation. Heritage Global Partners, the auction house partner, has set the starting bids at $25.

Dubbed the Legacy Auction, the event comprises 584 listings encompassing a variety of items that were once integral to Twitter's physical and digital landscape. However, the standout piece in the collection is the famous blue bird logo.

The winning bidder for the blue bird logo must engage an SF Licensed Company with the "appropriate permits" for its removal. The listing states, "Bird is still mounted on the side of the building. Buyer is responsible for hiring an SF Licensed Company with appropriate Permits."

The auction goes beyond office relics, offering a diverse array of items that capture the essence of Twitter's earlier days. From the Twitter Bird Wood Coffee table to the Hashtag Marquee light, the assortment reflects the platform's multifaceted influence.

Adding a touch of nostalgia, the collection includes a painting depicting Ellen DeGeneres's record-breaking 2014 Oscar selfie, which temporarily crashed the platform due to its popularity.

This marks Musk's second auction of Twitter-related items this year. In January, he oversaw the sale of a bird statue and other office items, with the bird statue fetching an astonishing $100,000, showcasing the fervor surrounding these artifacts despite concurrent company layoffs.

As the 'Twitter Rebranding: Online Auction Featuring Memorabilia, Art, Office Assets & More!' gets ready for its September 12 launch, enthusiasts, collectors, and observers will undoubtedly closely monitor the transformation of these artifacts into cherished symbols of a new era in social media history.
