Adgully caught up with Himmat Butalia-Marketing Head, Sony PIX as he provides interesting insights into the app.

Adgully (AG): What is the rationale behind the app?

Himmat Butalia (HB): Spider-man is a very popular franchise globally which has made millions at the box office over the years. We are very delighted to have held the rights to all the three installments of Spider-man for Indian Television airings. The franchise is now accessible through this app wherein you can design your own Spider-man strip. The app allows users to create their own story for a comic strip using many characters and images from the franchise.

AG: How does it engage the audiences?

HB: Social media is a great platform to interact with our viewers since it enables us to maintain a constant dialogue through numerous methods. This app is one such effort to excite our followers on social media platform. The Spider-man Comic App allows users to share the finished strip with friends which resulted in the App going viral.

AG: How are you making the app popular amongst the viewers?

HB: Our Facebook community consists primarily of youngsters who have shown a great liking for this App. They have been keenly sharing their finished strips and posting on their friends walls which has led to high traffic on the page and more so for the app. The multiple sharing has led to a viral effect which has increased usage of the app.

AG: How is the app utilized for Spider -man trilogy?

HB: The app helps reinstate the telecast details for the Spider-man Trilogy which is on 15th July. An app of this nature is a great push for the line- up since it engages viewers by giving them an option to personalise their favourite super hero. There are several posts and updates on Facebook which has resulted in higher visibility for the upcoming telecast of the Spider-man franchise.
