Google's Lin-Hua Wu Named Head Of GM Comms

DETROIT –Lin-Hua Wu, a Google employee, has been chosen by General Motors to take up Craig Buchholz's position as head of communications, which Buchholz resigned in May after three years with the company.

Beginning August 23, Wu will serve as GM's senior vice president and chief communications officer. Mary Barra, the CEO and chair, will be her boss.

Wu is moving from Google, where she has supported the knowledge & information and international business organisations as VP of global communications & public relations since 2021. Corey duBrowa, the head of worldwide communications at Google who will take over as CEO of BCW in August, is also leaving this summer.

Wu worked as the CCO at Dropbox for five years prior to Google. She oversaw corporate communications at Square (now Block) before to Dropbox.

“Lin-Hua’s broad experience and background will help drive more effective internal and external communications around our EV transformation and accelerated growth strategy,” Barra said. “Her extensive technology and Silicon Valley experience is the perfect fit for communicating our story as a technology-driven company that enables a world with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.”

Wu will take over a position that has been unfilled since Buchholz left the company earlier this year. Tony Cervone, a retired veteran of the auto business, was replaced by Buchholz when he joined GM in 2020 as CCO from P&G.
