Shailesh Rao moves on as VP, APAC, Latam & Emerging Markets at Twitter

Shailesh Rao has put in his paper as Vice president for Asia Pacific, Latin America and Emerging Markets at Twitter. He had joined the micro-blogging site in April 2012.

Commenting on the development, a Twitter spokesperson said, “We thank Shailesh for his contributions and leadership over the past four years. He built up our international business across Asia Pacific, Latin America and Emerging Markets into our fastest-growing user and revenue region today. He has hired and developed strong local teams across these markets, as well as opened dozens of offices worldwide, to serve our users, partners and advertisers. We wish him all the best and we will continue to hire and invest in the high-growth Asia Pacific region.”

Rao tweeted, “After 4+ years of growing the international business at Twitter, it’s time for new challenges. Around through July, then off to plot the next chapter! Couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built across Asia, Latin America and Emerging Markets – leaving the business in great hands!”

Rao was with Google from March 2005 to February 2012. He had joined the organisation as Director, Local Search. At the time of leaving, he was Vice President, Media, Mobile & Platforms - Asia Pacific at Google.

Before that, he was with Yodlee as Vice President, Products. He was with the organisation from January 2000 to March 2005.
