TV this week: Colors and Life OK surges ahead!

Hindi GECs Colors and Life OK are the only two channels that have gained in week 3 of TAM 2014. Both channels have added 10 million TVTs each to their gross viewership. The ratings of other GECs in the top six listing have nosedived this week. Despite the dip in viewership Zee TV is steady at no. 2 in the second consecutive week and has displaced the longstanding position of Colors which is now at no.3. Life OK which shared no.4 spot with SAB TV last week has taken a substantial lead ahead to grab the position thereby pushing SAB back to no.5. Star Plus with its popular and most watched shows continues to be the no.1 GEC while Sony TV which has witnessed decreased viewership week after week  remains fixed at no. 6  as per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 3, 2014 (January 12 – January 18) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Following are the scores of the Hindi GECs for week 3, 2014 with previous week’s figures in the brackets:

Star Plus the leader among the GECs lost viewership this week and recorded 625,772          GVTs (629,447) with a relative share of 25.17% (25.03%).
Zee TV which took a huge leap last week remains at 2nd spot this week but recorded a drop in viewership and recorded 470,680 GVTs (488,194) with a relative share of 18.94% (19.42%)

Colors at no. 3 witnessed a steep downslide in viewership which has led the channel this week to record 466,690 GVTs (456,890) and a relative share of 18.78% (18.19%).

Life OK now at the 4th spot has notched up considerably in week 3 to record a score a gross TVT of 347,326 million against last week’s GVT of 337,771 million. The channel’s relative share was at   13.95% (13.45%).

SAB TV at no. 5 registered a dip in viewership and recorded a score of 318,311 GVTs (338,233) with 12.79% (13.45%) relative share             
Meanwhile Sony ratings too registered a downslide thus recording 257,635 GVTs (263,081). The channel remains fixed at the 6th spot and indicates a relative share of 10.37% (10.47%).

Sahara One registering a slight increase has recorded 35959 GVTs (37,863) in week 3, 2014 and remains at the bottom of the list.
Coming to the most watched shows on the Hindi GECs:

On Star Plus ratings of Nach Baliye 6 indicate a dip in viewership as the show registered 4,449 TVTs (5,350) and the same goes for Mahabharat telecast from Monday through Friday as it recorded 7538 TVTs (7,794).

Among the most watched shows on Zee TV the new offering Aur Pyar Ho Gaya lost eyeballs as it recorded 3,637 TVTs (4044), Bha se Bhade: (Sat-Sun) too saw a decrease in viewership and registered 1931 TVTs (2160). Dance India Dance 4 ratings took a huge jump as it registered 6,838 TVTs (4618) on Saturday but saw a downslide as it recorded 3,878  TVTs (4,249)  on Sunday.

India’s Got Talent on Colors viewership dipped as the show registered 7,857 TVTs (9,380). Popular show Comedy Nights with Kapil on the channel that never fails to entertain its audiences has witnessed a further increase in viewership this week and garnered 11,016 TVTs (10,420). The two new fiction series on the channel seemed to have picked up viewership as Beintehaa reported 2,767 TVTs (2,633) and Rangrasiya recorded 2,686 TVTs (2,564). Hindi feature film Gori Tere Pyar Mein aired on the channel recorded 4290 TVTs in week 3, 2014.

Meanwhile the new offerings on Sony TV viz. Main Na Bhulungi gained slightly as it recorded 1,095 TVTs (1054) and so did Ek Nayi Pehchaan which recorded 2,094 TVTs (2087) this week. This week talent show Boogie Woogie Kids Championship (Sat-Sun) on Sony Entertainment Television registered 2,381 TVTs (2,733).
The movie channels have fared better this week with an increase in viewership as indicated by the GVTs of each channel given below:

Zee Cinema recorded a marginal increase in viewership with 198,135 GVTs (196,560), Star Gold scores took a huge leap and recorded 216,328 GVTs (182,903). Ratings of Movies OK picked up marginally and registered 138,124 GVTs (137,410). Movie channel &pictures ratings this week saw an improvement and garnered 93,317 GVTs (84,280). Zee Anmol ratings took a plunge and registered 74,522 GVTs (86,317). Not much change is visible in Max ratings this week which recorded 203,203 GVTs (202,083) and channel Rishtey registered a slight increase in viewership with 48,622 GVTs (46,641) as per data recorded for movie channels in week 3 of TAM 2014.
