TV this week: Colors at #2; crosses 500mn mark

The premiere of R Rajkumar on Colors fetched the channel 11.5 million TVTs and has helped it to cross the 500 million mark. With increased viewership of 80 million the channel has once again regained its no. 2 position after a break of two weeks. On the other hand with a decline of 38 million TVTs, Zee has slipped to its original no.3 spot. Although Star Plus lost eyeballs this week it has been able to sustain its GTVM above the 700 million mark. SAB and Sony gained viewership while Zee and Life OK ratings took a plunge in week 7, 2014. As per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 7, 2014 (February 9 – February 15 ) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus  leads  followed by Colors, Zee, Life OK, SAB TV and Sony.

Ratings of Hindi GECs for week 7, 2014 is as follows (with previous week’s figures in the brackets):

Star Plus saw a slight dip to record 701,715 GVTs (728,231) with a relative share of 27.39% (28.72%) but has managed to stay above the 700 million mark
Colors back at no.2 spot recorded 503,993 GVTs (424,431) with a relative share of 19.66% (16.73%). The channel has crossed the 500 million mark

Zee TV this week saw a decline due to a loss of 38 million TVTs bringing it back to no. 3 position. The channel recorded 457,282 GVTs (495,313) with a relative share of 17.83% (19.53%).

Life OK steady at the 4th spot recorded a gross TVT of 327,726 million against last week’s GVT of 343,882 million. The channel’s relative share this week is 12.80% (13.57%). 

SAB TV at no. 5 recorded a score of 297,178 GVTs (291,599) with relative share of 11.59% as against last week’s relative share of 11.52%.        
Sony on the strength of additional 23 million TVTs registered a slight gain recording 274,603 GVTs (251,650). The channel that has been constant at the 6th spot indicates a relative share of 10.73% (9.94%) this week.

Sahara One with a rise in viewership has registered 37,219 GVTs (35,896) in week 7, 2014 .

Coming to the most watched and popular shows on the Hindi GECs:

On Star Plus the Star GIMA Awards telecast on the channel garnered 4275 TVTs while ratings of epic series Mahabharat telecast from Monday through Friday dipped to record 7,489 TVTs (7,850).

India’s Got Talent on Colors which showcases immense talent from all parts of the country witnessed a gain in viewership and recorded 6,559 TVTs (5,876). The other popular show with audiences on the channel, which never fails to entertain, Comedy Nights with Kapil saw an immense climb this week as the show registered 9,088 TVTs (7,300).

Among the most watched shows on Zee TV, Aur Pyar Ho Gaya ratings dropped and registered 4,918 TVTs (5,129), Bha se Bhade: (Sat-Sun) is apparently losing viewership as the sitcom registered 1,171 TVTs (1,492) this week. Dance India Dance 4 recorded a score of 4,191 TVTs (4,254) on Saturday but gained eyeballs as it recorded 3,916 TVTs (3,132) on Sunday.

Meanwhile dance reality show Boogie Woogie Kids Championship (Sat-Sun) on Sony Entertainment Television recorded a huge gain with 2,390 TVTs (1,721) in week 7.
The GVTs of the various movie channels indicate following scores this week:

Zee Cinema gained viewership this week registering 191,065 GVTs (185,836), Star Gold scores dropped even further this week and recorded 188,923  GVTs (193,648) . Ratings of Movies OK picked up slightly and registered 139,482 GVTs (134,400). Movie channel &pictures ratings saw a drop and registered 74,452 GVTs (83,202). Zee Anmol ratings saw a steep fall this week to register 65,506 GVTs (79,408). Negligible change was seen in Max viewership which recorded 205,926 GVTs (206,080)  as per data recorded in week 7 of TAM 2014.
