TV this week: Colors loses eyeballs

The Navratri festival has no doubt impacted viewership in week 41 of TAM 2013 thus affecting the Hindi GECs which suffered a loss of 151.6 million GVTs (gross viewership in thousands) or a 6.28 per cent during the week. This week Colors lost maximum viewership and although still at no. 2  has reduced the gap with  Zee TV which is at  no. 3.  While Life OK at no.4 held on to its position with a minor decline in its viewership, not much change was seen in the ratings of Sony Entertainment Television and SAB TV which continued to remain in their original positions  thus indicating an overall drop in viewership of the GECs in week 41 of TAM .

As per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 41 (October 06 - October 12) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus continues to lead while Colors and Zee TV have inched closer to each other . Life OK has retained its position this week and is followed by Sony and SAB TV.

Following are the details of GVT’s recorded by the Hindi GECs this week :  Star Plus is still the leader at no. 1 although the channel witnessed a decrease in viewership thus  reporting 464989 GVTs (501683). Colors ratings too dipped to register a score of 407337  GVTs  ( 476063)   and remains in the 2nd position  . Viewership of Zee TV continuing in the 3rd spot decreased and recorded 406987 GVTs (415793). In week 41 Life OK continues to be in the 4th position and  recorded a score of 344750 GVTs (347291).  At 5th spot Sony ratings too dropped marginally and recorded 313411 GVTs (323337) Meanwhile SAB TV ratings plunged and registered 291781 GVTs (317170) thus bringing the channel to 6th position this week.  Viewership of channel Sahara One saw an increase as it  registered a  score of    33705   GVTs (33222).
Star Plus lost 37 million in its Gross TVT with a relative share of 20.86% (last week  20.78% relative share). Colors lost maximum viewership among GECs with a relative share of 18.26% (last week 19.72% relative share). Zee TV too lost 9 million TVTs this week with 18.26% relative share ( relative share of 17.22% last week.) Life OK’s  relative share rose to 15.48% in Week 41 against 14.39% in Week 40. Sony lost 10 million viewers and held the No. 5 position with 14.04% relative share (last week 13.39% ) and SAB TV was at No. 6 with a loss of 25 million viewers and 13.1% relative share (last week 13.14% relative share).

The two most popular shows on Star Plus,  Diya aur Baati Hum and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai both recorded 9200 TVTs (9911) and   6000   TVTs (7614) respectively.  Pyar Ka Dard Hai recorded 6300 TVTs (7708) while Saathiya Saath Nibhana too registered  6300  TVTs (7237)

Fiction series on Colors , Sasural Simar Ka garnered 4700 TVTs (5200)while long running series Balika Vadhu ratings plunged to record  6600  TVTs (6759) and comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil viewership has dipped considerably to register 6500 TVTs  (6600 ) .

The Zee TV’s fictional series Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke saw a huge dip in viewership and garnered 5100 TVTs (6490).  The interesting track and storyline of historical show Jodha Akbar  garnered  a score of 8800  TVTs (9337).
The long running crime series CID on Sony Entertainment Television witnessed a huge drop   in its ratings and recorded a score of   5300  TVTs (7048) this week. 
Fiction show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV which remains the undisputed channel leader , ratings plunged this week to register a score of 6900 TVTs (8489) .
