TV this week: Growing @ 31% Life OK succeeds in overtaking Sony & SAB!

TVT data for week 32 of TAM 2013 indicates that with an impressive growth of 31%  Life OK has succeeding in overtaking  Sony and SAB TV . By registering a growth of 15% Zee TV too is gradually inching towards Colors which is at no.2.

Among the Hindi GECs Star Plus continues to rule in the no.1 position followed by Colors in the second position and Zee TV in the third position as per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 32 (August 4 – August 10) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Life OK the most watched channel in week 32 has surpassed both Sony and SAB TV thus taking the fourth spot . Sony and SAB are now at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively and with a dip in viewership  Sahara One  remains at No. 7.

Another interesting point to note is that with Bihar achieving 1mn+,  the requisite digital penetration as per the standards, it has contributed to  the TAM HSM Universe which has consequently expanded to 205.4 million.

Star Plus the irrefutable leader among Hindi GECs has been able to retain its viewership  in week 32 recording a Gross TVT of 506 million but its relative share reduced to 21.85% (last week 506 million with 22.53% relative share).

Colors registered a Gross TVT of 438 million with relative share of 18.92% (last week 456.3 million with 20.32% relative share). An 18 million dip has been registered by the channel in its Gross TVT and 1.4% of relative share.

In contrast Zee TV has established it’s position at No. 3 and narrowed the gap with Colors on the back of  the channel’s Gross TVT of 424 million and 18.33% of relative share. The channel had registered 367 million TVT with relative share of 16.34% last week.

Life OK has recorded the highest growth among all the GECs in Week 32. Registering a growth of 31% the channel recorded a Gross TVT of 316 million against last week’s 240 million. As a result Life OK’s relative share grew to 13.64% in Week 32 against 10.69% in Week 31.

Sony TV lost 19 million in it’s  Gross TVT in week 32 thus recording 301 million TVT and 12.99% relative share as against last week’s 320 million TVT with 14.23% of relative share.

SAB TV at no.6 plunged two positions in week 32 due to  a descent of 23 million in its Gross TVT. The channel recorded 298 million Gross TVT and 12.89% relative share as against last week’s 321 million TVT and 14.27% relative share.

Sahara One saw further decline in viewership  with Gross TVT of  32 million with 1.38% relative share (last week 36 million TVT and 1.6% relative share).

Coming to the ratings of various shows on the GECs , the popular Diya Aur Bati Hum on Star Plus proved its stability as it registered 10,356 TVTs (10,393). The other prime time show,on the channel Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai saw a dip  taking its score to 6,542 TVTs (6,799). Pyar Ka Dard Hai recorded 6,233 TVTs (6,141) and Saathiya registered 5,525 TVTs (5,815).

The popular celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors made waves this week. The reality show generated 5,299 TVTs (4,603) on Saturday and 4,503 TVTs (3,734) on Sunday. Balika Vadhu , the long running fiction series saw a dip in viewership and scored 6,644 TVTs (7,340), so also Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon which recorded 4,396 TVTs (4,884) and Uttaran registered 4,508 TVTs (4,626).  Comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil is a huge success and has generated 6,831 TVTs (6,079). The new series on the channel Mrs Pammi Pyarelal on Colors registered a slight growth as it rated 1,766 TVTs (1,699).

On Zee TV the reality dance show DID Super Moms , rated 5,551 TVTs (4,956) on Saturday and 4,349 TVTs (4,491) on a Sunday on the back of its outstanding performances.  The ratings of fictional offering Qubool Hai dipped to register 7,188 TVTs (7,250). Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke too registered a decline in its score with 4,332 TVTs (4,498). The  one hour special episode of Jodha Akbar aired this week saw a surge in it’s ratings and scored 5,547 TVTs (3,659).

Mahadev on Life OK  rated 3,493 TVT (3,455). Do Dil Ek Jaan registered 1,783 TVTs (1,488), Savdhan India registered a score of 2,867 TVTs (2,471), Shapath recorded 3088 TVTs (2,477) and the latest offering on the channel, Gustakh Dil scored 1,884 TVT.

Sony Entertainment Television's long running crime series CID recorded a slight increase with 5,177 TVTs (5,144) and ratings of show Crime Patrol fell to record 3,859 TVT (4,347). Comedy Circus ke Ajoobe Mahabali witnessed a marginal slide with 2,816 TVTs (3,025). Not much change was noticed in the ratings of the historical show Maharana Pratap on the channel. The show generated 3,139 TVT (3,281). Indian Idol Junior on the channel seems to lose its viewership as it recorded 4,351 TVTs (5,391) on Saturday but made up for the loss  with its score of 4,602 TVTs (3,840) on Sunday.

SAB TV’s top chart fiction show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah continues to be the undisputed channel leader with 7,032 TVTs (8,218). Not much change was seen in the ratings of Chidiya Ghar which managed to remain stable with 3,412 TVTs (3,433). The ratings of Wah Wah Kya Baat Hai fell to record 1,257 TVTs (1,856). A slight dip was noticed in the ratings of show Lapataganj thus recording 2,421 TVTs (2,508). Other fictional shows on the channel too witnessed marginal rise and fall during the week.

Sahara One still at the bottom of the list scored 32,326 TVTs (36,400).

Zee Cinema in the movie channel genre recorded 228,837 TVTs (215,299); Star Gold  saw an increase thus registering 219,247 TVTs (187,810) but on the other hand a dip in TVTs was seen in Movies OK and Max which scored 122,304 TVTs (124,621) and 232,253 TVTs (312,088) respectively.
