TV this week: Nos. surges for 4 out of 7 GECs

GECs have witnessed a good growth in their viewership in week 35 of TAM TV ratings. This week four out of the seven channels have gained substantially , as per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 35 (August 25 – August 31) for CS 4+, HSM markets. No change is seen in the top three positions this week as Star Plus continues to lead in the GEC space and is followed by Colors in the 2nd spot and Zee TV in the third spot. SAB TV remains stable in the 4th spot while Sony has once again regained it’s 5th position inspite of a dip in its TVT ratings this week, thus bringing Life OK to 6th position this week.

Following are the detailed GVT’s of the respective channels: SAB TV  has registered 319,158 GVTs (295,176). Whereas , not much difference is visible in Sony’s score which   recorded 291,074 GVTs (292,684). Life OK registered  269,927 GVTs (293188) this week .

Star Plus with an increase in viewership  has reported 495,509 GVTs (470,197). Colors ratings too have surged to garner  452,921 GVTs (435,673). Zee TV notched up its score and recorded  395,024 GVTs (377,685). Sahara One continues to be at the bottom with a score of  29,645 GVTs (30,527).

Ratings of various shows on the top 6 Hindi GECs are as follows:

Diya aur Baati Hum on Star Plus is strengthening it’s position on the back of its increased ratings . This week the show recorded a rating 10,175 TVTs (9,483). The other prime time show on the channel , Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai saw a slight fall thus recording a  score of 7,024 TVTs (7,124). Pyar Ka Dard Hai registered 6,515 TVTs (6,482) and Saathiya registered 6,127 TVTs (5,374). The TVTs of the  latest reality show Junior Master Chef on the channel saw a drop in it’s ratings to record 2,671 TVTs (2,804).

Colors' popular celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is apparently losing viewership as it registered 5,979 TVTs (6,869) on Saturday and saw a marginal increase when it recorded  5,730 TVTs (5,540) on Sunday. The longest running fiction series Balika Vadhu saw a drop in its ratings and registered 6,127 TVTs (6,294). On the other hand ratings of Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon and Uttaran have picked up considerably in week 35 to record 5,329 TVTs (4,646) and  5,069 TVTs (4,736) respectively. The comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil which never fails to entertain saw a rise in viewership and registered 7,072 TVTs (6,988).

Zee TV's reality dance show DID Super Moms is losing viewership as it rated 4,653 TVTs (5,664) on Saturday and 4,490 TVTs (5,635) on Sunday. Qubool Hai ratings fell to score 6,492 TVTs (6,618) and Pavitra Rishta ratings increased marginally thus generating 5,078 TVTs (4,990).  Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke scored 4,785 TVTs (4,361) and  the  historical offering Jodha Akbar on the channel seems to be grabbing eyeballs  taking its score to 4,785 TVTs (4,361).

SAB TV’s  popular serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is still the undisputed channel leader with 7,094 TVTs (7,048). Ratings of both Chidiya Ghar and Lapataganj dropped this week to record 2,777 TVTs (3,069) and  2,093 TVTs (2,318) respectively.

Sony’s long running crime series CID recorded a score of 4,758 TVTs (5,061) and Crime Patrol due to increased viewership recorded 4,783 TVTs (3,500). No change was seen in the ratings of Comedy Circus ke Ajoobe Mahabali which remained stable to report 3,070 TVTs (3,071). The ratings of the channel's historical show Maharana Pratap recorded a marginal dip and scored 2,993 TVTs (3,068). Indian Idol Junior on the channel reported good viewership on Saturday with a rating of 4,751 TVTs (4,064) but in contrast lost viewership on Sunday when it recorded  4,348 TVTs (4,617) .

Most of the shows on Life OK saw a drop in viewership this week.  Popular series Mahadev rated 2,995 TVTs (3,020), Do Dil Ek Jaan recorded 1,721 TVTs (1,554), Savdhan India rated 2,271 TVTs (2,526), and Shapath registered 2,455 TVTs (3,330) whereas the new entrant on the channel Gustakh Dil recorded 1,372 TVTs (1,238).

In the movie channel's genre: Zee Cinema reported 246,750 GVTs (248,031); Ratings of Star Gold dipped to record 194,992 GVTs (207,543). Movies OK too witnessed a downslide in its ratings to record 118,643 GVTs (131,215). Movie channel Max on the other hand, witnessed an increase in viewership and recorded 223,692 GVTs (218,449) in week 35 of TAM,2013
