TV this week: Star Plus leads the flock; Zee TV goes back to #3

After being displaced by Zee TV from its no.1 position last week, Star Plus once again leads the flock and is at the top of the Hindi GEC list in week 44 of TAM, 2013. Colors notched up and gained considerably to grab the second position thus bringing Zee to the 3rd spot this week. The most watched shows on SAB TV has helped the channel to take a leap and has thus overtaken Life OK which witnessed a drop in its ratings. Not much change is seen in the ratings of Sony which continues to remain in the 6th position as per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 44 (October 27 - November 2) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Following are the detailed GVT’s recorded by the Hindi GECs this week: Star Plus has once gained viewership to lead among the GECs and recorded a score of 486066 GVTs (492,849). In second place is Colors which registered a score of 463778 GVTs (423,584). In contrast to last week this week Zee TV lost eyeballs and the channel’s viewership dipped to record 434987 GVTs (505,442) and has now in the 3rd spot. Meanwhile SAB TV ratings improved to garner  337099 GVTs (331,674)  thus bringing the channel to 4th position this week. A drop in viewership has now brought Life OK to 5th position and the channel has recorded a score of   323897 GVTs (334,635).  Sony, with a marginal rise in ratings has recorded 299964 GVTs (281,638) and continues to be at 6th spot in week 44. Sahara One viewership too saw a sharp plunge as it registered a score of   31647 GVTs (36323) and continues to remain at the bottom of the chart.
Now moving on to the ratings of the most watched shows on the Hindi GECs:

The two most popular shows on Star Plus, Diya aur Baati Hum and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai both lost viewership this week to register 10155 TVTs (10367) and 6986 TVTs (7347) respectively.  Pyar Ka Dard Hai saw a huge rise in viewership and garnered 7752 TVTs (7178) while Saathiya ratings increased marginally to record a score of 7509 TVTs (7474).  The epic series Mahabharata lost eyeballs as it recorded 5041 TVTs (5530) and not much change was seen in the ratings of Saraswati Chandra which registered 5111   TVTs (5170) in week 44.

Reality show Bigg Boss 7 on Colors gained marginally this week and registered 5024 TVTs (4587) while long running series Balika Vadhu ratings took a dip this week to record 7080 TVTs (7735). Meanwhile a marginal rise in viewership led Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon to record 4441 TVTs (4305). This week Uttaran ratings surged ahead and garnered a score of 4299   TVTs (3722) and similarly Comedy Nights with Kapil too registered an increase in its ratings to score 6631 TVTs (5250). Meanwhile Bani - Ishk da Kalma registered an increased score of 4125 TVTs (3624) and the new offering ‘24’, on the channel lost viewership and registered 2755 TVTs (3050) in week 44 of TAM 2013.

This week’s chart topper Zee TV’s fictional series Qubool Hai picked up remarkably to garner 5625 TVTs (4998).  Pavitra Rishta ratings dropped to score 4235 TVTs (4419). Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke saw a huge increase in viewership and garnered 5152 TVTs (4843).  This week viewership for historical show Jodha Akbar dropped marginally to record a score of 8101    TVTs (8299). Viewership of drama series Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se is on the rise as it registered a score of 4870 TVTs (4412).  The recently launched Dance reality show DID 4 viewership plunged and registered 3854 TVTs (6075) on Saturday and 6519 TVTs on Sunday. The new comedy offering on the channel Bh se Bhade lsot viewership as it generated 2139 TVTs (2856).

The popular mythological series Mahadev on Life OK continues to lead in this genre and has garnered 4183 TVTs (3759) while the Maha episode of Mahadev garnered 4368 TVTs.  Ratings of Do Dil Ek Jaan dipped to register 1526 TVTs (1719) . The other offerings on the channel, namely, Savdhan India registered 2509 TVTs (2577) and Shapath viewership decreased and registered 3172 TVTs (3699). Meanwhile among the new shows on the channel Ek Boond Ishq recorded 2620 TVTs (2749) and The Bachelorette India recorded 2073 TVTs as against last week’s 2052 TVTs.

Fiction show on SAB TV, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah remains the undisputed channel leader but the show failed to grab eyeballs as it recorded a score of 7637 TVTs (8161) in week 44. Chidiya Ghar too lost points to record 3645 TVTs (3852).  Lapataganj on the channel gained marginally and registered a score of 2354 TVTs (2217) and Baalveer viewership dropped to register 2391 TVTs (2904) this week. The show celebrating the festive season , SAB Ki Diwali Mela recorded  4064 TVTs.

The long running crime series CID on Sony Entertainment Television witnessed a slide in its ratings and recorded a score of 4317 TVTs (5009) this week.  Crime Patrol too followed suit and registered a score of 3818 TVTs (3947).  No change was seen in the ratings of historical show Maharana Pratap which registered 2771 TVTs (2772). Bade Ache Lagte registered a score of  2242 TVTs  (2124) while latest addition on the channel viz Nandini recorded 831 TVTs  (842) Meanwhile KBC on the channel saw a huge downslide to  register 2436  TVTs (3570)  in Week 44.

Where movie channels are concerned , Zee Cinema viewership increased and registered 210728  GVTs (195223) , Star Gold ratings on the other hand decreased  to record  175245  GVTs (190414) .   Movies OK saw a dip in its ratings and recorded 120183 GVTs (124887). Viewership of the new entrant among movie channels, &pictures too plunged to record 57589 GVTs (67725). Meanwhile not much change was seen in the ratings of  Zee Anmol which recorded  50827  GVTs (52731) and same goes for  Max which saw a marginal dip to register  a  score of 182588  GVTs (198492) as per data recorded  in week 44 of TAM, 2013.
