TV this week: Star Plus records Gross TVT of 506mn; Colors at 456.3mn

Week 31, of TAM 2013 is the second week of television ratings released in the TVT format and an increase was observed in the ratings of most GEC’s this week. The fiction shows and the Grand Finale of India’s Dancing Superstar, on Star Plus has led the channel to grow by 32 million TVT thus creating a wider gap with Colors which remains at no.2. The TAM TV ratings are in thousands, colloquially referred to as TVT (Television viewership in thousands) and represented in terms of gross numbers.

Zee continues to be at no. 3 position while SAB TV which notched up 20,797 TVT has overtaken Sony to take the 4th position in week 31. Sony is now in 5th , Life OK in 6th and Sahara One is in 7th position respectively as per TVT data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 31 (July 28 – August 3) for CS 4+, HSM markets.

Star Plus has registered Gross TVT of 506 million with relative share of 22.53% (last week 474 million with 22.0% relative share).

The Gross TVT of Colors registered 456.3 million with relative share of 20.32% (last week 455.6 million with 21.1% relative share).

Zee TV continues to be in 3rd position recording a Gross TVT of 367 million and 16.34% of relative share. Last week the channel had recorded 341 million TVT with relative share of 15.8% .

SAB TV now in the 4th position overtook Sony with 321 million Gross TVT and 14.27% relative share (last week 300 million TVT and 13.9% relative share).

Sony now at no. 5 registered 320 million TVT and 14.23% relative share (last week 316 million TVT with 14.6% of relative share).

Life OK recorded a Gross TVT of 240 million and relative share of 10.69% (last week 239.9 million TVT and 11.1% relative share).

Sahara One remains at the bottom of the list with registering 36 million TVT with 1.6% relative share (last week 34 million TVT and 1.6% relative share).

Now coming to the various shows on the GEC’s a marked improvement has been seen in their ratings in week 31. The popular show Diya aur Baati Hum on Star Plus registered a growth and rated 10,332 TVT (9,133). The other prime time show on the channel, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai too witnessed an increase taking its score to 6,749 TVT (6,114). Pyar Ka Dard Hai registered 6,090 TVT (5,939) and Saathiya registered 5,779 TVT (5,460). The Grand Finale of reality show India's Dancing Superstars' rated 5,503 TVT on Saturday and 2,162 TVT (3,181) on Sunday.

The ratings of dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors seems to have dipped this week thus recording 4,579 TVT (5,853) on Saturday and 3,705 TVT (4,690) on Sunday. Same goes for the fiction Balika Vadhu which saw a drop to score7,308 TVT (8,018). Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon rated 4,846 TVT (4,822) and Uttaran rated 4,611 TVT (4,126). Comedy Nights with Kapil generated 6,059 TVT (6,352) on Saturday and Sunday. Mrs Pammi Pyarelal the new entrant on the channel rated 1,690 TVT (1,796).

Reality dance show DID Super Moms on Zee TV scored 4,934 TVT (4,979) on Saturday and 4,485 TVT (4,233) on  Sunday. The ratings of fictional series Qubool Hai dipped to score 7,213 TVT (7,380). Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke registering a slight fall rated 4,462 TVT (4,472). On the other hand historical show Jodha Akbar witnessed a growth thus scoring 3,630 TVT (3,132).

SAB TV’s fiction show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah ,the channel leader has generated 8,161 TVT (7,724). A marginal dip in the ratings of Chidiya Ghar indicates a score of 3,409 TVT (3,691). Wah Wah Kya Baat Hai and Lapataganj both shows saw an improvement in their score. The former rated 1852 TVT (1465) and latter registered a score of 2502 TVT (2324) respectively.

CID the longest running crime series on Sony Entertainment Television rated 5122 TVT (5169). A remarkable improvement has been seen in the ratings of show Crime Patrol which scored 4331 TVT (3906). Comedy Circus ke Ajoobe Mahabali registered a marginal growth with 3008 TVT (2955). Maharana Pratap the historical show on the channel has generated 3271 TVT (3302). Indian Idol Junior achieved a commendable score of 5348 TVT (4441) on Saturday but its ratings dropped on Sunday taking its score to 3813 TVT (3850).

The ratings of series Mahadev on Life OK saw growth with a score of 3328 TVT (3074). But other shows on the channel saw a dip in their ratings: Do Dil Ek Jaan scored 1447 TVT (1700), Savdhan India rated 2466 TVT (2523), Police Dial 100 scored 558 TVT (667) and Shapath reported 2466 TVT (2684).

Ratings of movie channels genre are as follows: Zee Cinema ratings fell thus recording 214046 TVT (238378); Star Gold too dipped to score 186424 TVT (203238) but Movies OK improved it’s score with 123662 TVT (112714).  On the back of their world television premiere of Aashiqui 2 on 28 July Max witnessed a huge leap forward thus registering a  score of 309861 TVT (215075) .

In an official communication to Adgully, T-series has confirmed about the stupendous ratings  Aashiqui 2 the biggest hit and highest grosser of 2013 received during the movie’s world television premiere on SET Max. The movie screened twice on 28th July 2013 two months after its release received TVR for 6.78 for 1pm show and 3.83 TVR for 8pm show according to TAM reports in the age group of 4 – 44 years.  Sneha Rajani, Senior Executive Vice President &  Business Head, SET, too tweeted to express her sentiments on the success of the movie premiere on the channel. She tweeted , “Aashiqui 2 TV Premiere ratings is a slam dunk! .. Smashed it! Congrats , thank you for all the support,” Sneha.
