TV this week: Surge in Zee TV's viewership

Hindi GEC Colors has been displaced after being at no.2 spot for several weeks now.  Week 2 of TAM 2014 saw the channel losing 65 million TVTs and has been overtaken by Zee TV which picked up maximum viewership this week. With SAB TV losing eyeballs and Life OK gaining viewership this week the latter caught up hence both channels share the 4th position in the Hindi GECs pecking order.  Star Plus has retained its no.1 position and continues to be far ahead of the 600 million mark although the channel ratings indicate a dip in its gross viewership post the New Year eve entertainment programmes aired on the channel. Sony viewership too indicates a decline as per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 2, 2014 (January 5 – January 11) for CS 4+, HSM markets.
Following are the scores of the Hindi GECs for week 2, 2014 with previous week’s figures in the brackets:

Star Plus the leader among the GECs lost viewership this week and recorded 629,447 GVTs (647,066) with a relative share of 25.03% (25.19%).
Zee TV has taken a huge leap and jumped to 2nd spot this week and recorded 488,194 GVTs (449,211) with a relative share of 19.42% (17.48%)
Colors at no. 3 witnessed a steep downslide in viewership which has led the channel this week to record   456,890 GVTs (522,158) and a relative share of 18.19% (20.33%).

Life OK now back to the 4th spot jointly with SAB TV has notched up considerably in week 2 to record a score a gross TVT of 337,771 million against last week’s GVT of 323,456 million. The channel’s relative share was at 13.45% (12.58%).

SAB TV also at no. 4 registered a dip in viewership and recorded a score of 338,233 GVTs (360,843) with a relative share of   13.45% (14.06%).
Meanwhile Sony ratings have tumbled once again in week 2 of TAM 2014, thus recording 263,081 GVTs (266,161). The channel remains fixed at the 6th spot and indicates a relative share of   10.47% (10.36%).

Sahara One registering a slight increase has recorded 37,863 GVTs (36,162) in week 2, 2014 but continues to remain at the bottom of the chart. 
Coming to the most watched shows:

On Star Plus ratings of Nach Baliye 6 took a turn for the better as the show registered 5,350 TVTs (3,523) and so did Mahabharat telecast from Monday through Friday as it  recorded an increase with  7,794  TVTs (6,811)  .

Among the most watched shows on Zee TV Aur Pyar Ho Gaya (Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi) saw an increase and recorded 4044 TVTs (3101), Bha se Bhade: (Sat-Sun) saw a rise in viewership and registered 2160 TVTs (1,534). Dance India Dance 4 registered 4618 TVTs (4,410) on Saturday and 4249 TVTs (3,687) on Sunday.  Hindi feature film Ramaiya Vastavaiya aired on 11th January garnered good viewership and scored 5,926 TVTs. 

India’s Got Talent on Colors has kicked off a good start as the popular show garnered 9380 TVTs in the first week of launch. Popular show Comedy Nights with Kapil on the channel that never fails to entertain has witnessed a sharp increase in viewership this week and garnered 10,420 TVTs (8,973).  The two new fiction series on the channel saw a decline in viewership. While Beintehaa reported 2633 TVTs (2,964), Rangrasiya recorded 2564  TVTs (3,199)  in week 2, 2014.

Meanwhile the new offerings on Sony TV viz. Main Na Bhulungi gained slightly as it recorded 1054 TVTs (884) and so did Ekk Nayi Pehchaan which recorded 2087 TVTs (1,965) this week. Talent show Boogie Woogie Kids Championship (Sat-Sun) on Sony Entertainment Televisionis grabbing viewership as the show has registered 2733 TVTs (2,488) .

Most of the movie channels witnessed a downslide in the 2nd week of the New Year as is evident with the ratings given below:

Zee Cinema registered a marginal dip in viewership and recorded 196,560 GVTs (200, 662), Star Gold scores too plunged and recorded 182,903 GVTs (195,587).

Ratings of Movies OK lost eyeballs and registered 137,410 GVTs (143,920) in week 2 of TAM, 2014. In contrast to last weeks’ ratings, movie channel &pictures ratings this week saw a downslide and registered 84,280 GVTs (91,406). Zee Anmol ratings saw vast improvement this week and garnered  86,317 GVTs (71,855)  while Max viewership took a sharp plunge and registered 202,083 GVTs (221,690) and channel Rishtey registered a slight increase in viewership with 46,641GVTs ( 46,501)   as per data recorded for movie channels in week 2 of TAM 2014.
