TV this week: Zee TV garners 94 million TVTs

Of late a see saw situation seems to be prevalent with Colors and Zee both claiming the 2nd position alternatively. This week it is Zee TV which has made a comeback to claim the 2nd spot once again. Zee Cine Awards and DID Little Masters on the channel gave a boost to its ratings leading to an additional 94 million gross TVTs, consequently pushing Colors to 3rd spot in week 9.   By virtue of adding 23 million TVTs, Life OK too has scaled the chart to return to its original no. 4 position. Having lost maximum viewership Star Plus ratings plummeted 51 million TVTs but has managed to maintain its leadership status. Sony is now at no. 5 and SAB TV has lost eyeballs this week and plunged to 6th spot as per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 9, 2014 (February 23 – February 29) for CS 4+, HSM markets.  Star Plus still leads followed by Zee, Colors,  Life OK, Sony and SAB TV.

‘DID L’il Masters Season 3’ has garnered the highest launch episode ratings ever across GECs in 2013-14. The dance reality show has won the hearts of its audiences nationwide with their Bacchagiri. Zee has issued a statement in connection with TVT’s garnered for DID L’il Masters Season 3 launch episodes. It states, “India’s biggest dance reality show for children and Zee Television’s flagship property, ‘Lifebuoy Dance India Dance L’il Masters Season 3’ has connected millions of people through dance with a unique positioning of Bacchagiri. The baaps of dance have proved their mettle as not just the baaps of dance but are the baaps of ratings too. Dancing their way to the hearts of its audiences, this season of L’il Masters opened with a whopping 11099 TVTs (Source: TAM - Week 9), making it the highest rated episode on reality shows from 2013 till date across GECs. The show’s earlier seasons on Zee TV were also phenomenal successes on television.” 

According to TAM, children related reality shows, Boogie Woogie Kids Championship and Indian Idol Junior recorded 4411 and 3743 TVT on its launch day, respectively. Even India’s best-selling reality shows, Kaun Banega Crorepati-7 and Bigg Boss 7 reported 8950 and 7711 TVT respectively, on its launch day. Zee TV has been unstoppable right from the inception of ‘Dance India Dance L’il Masters’ and this grand opening of ‘DID L’il Masters Season 3’  has added another feather to the most loved reality show.

Detailed data of the GEC’s ratings are as follows (previous week’s figures in the brackets):

Star Plus continues to stay at the top of the GEC chart although the channel saw a further dip in its viewership to record  637 million  GVTs (gross TV viewership in million) (688 million)  indicating  that the channel’s ratings have tumbled considerably this week

Zee TV ratings got a boost this week as it recorded 548 million GVTs (454 million) and has climbed to 2nd spot once again.

Colors which has now been pushed to no.3 spot has recorded 465 million GVTs (502 million) this week. The channel ratings have slid down from the 500 million mark

Life OK with a surge in viewership has jumped to its original 4th position in week 9 and recorded 341 million GVTs (318 million). 

Sony with a dip recorded 306 million GVTs (339 million). The channel has lost viewership and is now at 5th spot.

SAB TV has tumbled to no. 6 due to a steep decline in viewership thus registering a score of 303  million GVTs (326 million)      

Sahara One has recorded no change in its ratings and has registered 37 million GVTs (37million) in week 9, 2014.
