BARC Wk 28: Hindi GECs see decline in viewership during FIFA play

BARC ratings for Week 28 (July 7-13) [HSM (U+R): NCCS All : 2+ Individuals] saw most of the top 10 Hindi GECs witnessing decline in their gross viewership, not surprising as the week saw the Quarter Final and Semi Final playouts at the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018. Star Bharat saw gains this week as it moved past Colors to be placed at No. 4. 

Though placed in the No. 1 spot, Zee Anmol has been witnessing a decline in its gross viewership in the last few weeks. The channel recorded a gross viewership of 651,719 in Week 28, a further decline from 698,822 recorded last week. Re-run of the hit show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, slipped a couple of notches to No. 4 among most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 10,726 (000) Impressions.  

Zee TV, too, has continued firm at No. 2 this week, garnering a gross viewership of 577,951, a decline from 614,367 recorded in Week 28. Three of its shows feature among the most watched shows on Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban. Spin-off show, ‘Kundali Bhagya’, climbed up a notch to No. 2 this week with 11,695 (000) impressions, while marquee show, ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, climbed up a notch to the third spot with 11,173 (000) Impressions. ‘Ishq Subhan Allah’ is the new entrant this week, making its entry at No. 5 with 9,851 (000) impressions. 

Sony Pal continued in the third spot in Week 28, witnessing a marginal decline in its gross viewership – from 552,330 recorded in Week 27 to 551,727 this week. 

Star Bharat climbed up a notch to the fourth spot this week, but witnessed a decline in its gross viewership to 541,652, from 545,871 recorded in Week 27. 

Colors, on the other hand, slipped a notch to No. 5 in Week 28, recording a gross viewership of 538,323, a further decline from 552,010 recorded last week. Colors’ prime property, ‘Naagin 3’, continued as the most watched show in Hindi GECs in Rural+Urban with 13,910 (000) Impressions. After spending a few weeks among the top 5 shows, talent hunt show, ‘Dance Deewane’, moved out of this list.  

Star Utsav remained unchanged in the sixth spot this week, garnering a gross viewership of 504,288, a slight decline from 508,738 recorded in Week 27. 

Star Plus, too, continued at No. 7 in Week 28, recording a gross viewership of 493,095, an increase from 487,574 recorded last week. 

There was no change in the positions of Rishtey, Sony SAB and Sony Entertainment Television in Week 28 as well. Rishtey remained at No. 8 with a gross viewership of 429,347, a further decline from 445,400 recorded last week.  

Continuing at No. 9, Sony SAB saw further increase in its gross viewership at 410,532, compared to 401,353 recorded last week. Sony Entertainment Television was placed at No. 10 with a gross viewership of 407,029, a further increase from 362,280 recorded last week.
