TV this week: Star continues to be the leader

The two week long conflict was finally resolved when TAM along with the bodies IBF, AAAI and ISA came up with a consensus last week. As per the decision taken henceforth TAM TV ratings will appear in thousands. Referred to as TVT (Television Viewership in Thousands) they will represent the ratings in gross numbers. The TAM media ratings for week 30 (July 21- July 27 ) have been announced for the first time  in the new format.

Viewership data for CS 4 + HSM markets , sourced from TAM subscribers indicate that in Week 30, Star Plus continues to lead inspite of losing 20,328 TVT thus taking its score to 473,998 million TVT ((494,326). This week has seen Colors climbing steadily and the channel continues to remain in the 2nd position while competing with the undisputed leader Star Plus. By adding 34,469 TVT the score now indicates 455,603 million TVT (421,134). Having notched up 19,047 TVT the score for Zee TV, presently in the third place, is now 321,762 million TVT (340,809)

By generating 315,840 million TVT (319,613) Sony has grabbed the 4th position whereas SAB TV in the 5th position lost 10,164 TVT taking its score to 299,761 million TVT (309,925). A dip of 5635 TVT has led Life OK to its final score of 239,981 million TVT (245,616). The above data has been deduced on the basis of viewers in the TG CS4+ years, HSM markets.

Where shows on various channels are concerned following are the TVT ratings:

Diya aur Baati Hum on Star Plus remains at the top and rated 9,133 TVT (9,121) in week 30. The other prime time show on the channel, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has registered 6,114 TVT (6,936). Pyar Ka Dard Hai rated 5,939 TVT (6,330) and Saathiya recorded 5,460 TVT (5,639). The reality show India's Dancing Superstars apparently saw a dip in viewership as the show rated 3,673 TVT (3,916) on Saturday and 3,181 TVT (3,465) on Sunday.

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa the popular celebrity dance reality show on Colors grabbed eyeballs on Saturday to generate 5,853 TVT (5,513) but same was not the case on Sunday when it registered 4,690 TVT (4,820). There is no doubt that viewership of fiction shows on Colors has increased. The longest running show Balika Vadhu generated 8,018 TVT (6,175), Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon rated 4,822 TVT (4,526) and Uttaran rated 4,126 TVT (3,987) this week. New show Comedy Nights with Kapil has been making waves and the special guest appearances on the show too has been an added attraction and the show  generated 6,352 TVT (5,537) on Saturday and Sunday. Mrs Pammi Pyarelal the latest offering in the comedy genre rated 1,796 TVT (1,968).

Outstanding performances on Zee TV's reality dance show DID Super Moms led to a hike in viewership and rated 4,979 TVT (4,465) on Saturday and 4,233 TVT (4,125) on Sunday.  Fiction show Qubool Hai on the channel too saw a rise when it rated 7,380 TVT (6,479) and Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke registered a slight growth to score 4,472 TVT (4,232). On the other hand historical show Jodha Akbar ratings dipped to register 3,132 TVT (3,421).

CID, the longest running crime series on  Sony Entertainment Television  lacked viewership this week and thus rated 5,169 TVT (5,451) and Crime Patrol on the channel rated 3,906 TVT (4,270). But Comedy Circus ke Ajoobe Mahabali Audition witnessed an increase to  generate 2,955 TVT (2,652). The historical show Maharana Pratap continuing with its last week’s ratings garnered 3,302 TVT (3,369).  Indian Idol Junior ratings dipped taking its score to 4,441 TVT (4,840) on Saturday and 3,850 TVT (4,064) on Sunday.

The undisputed comedy show on SAB TV  Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah continues to be the leader with 7,724 TVT (7,786). While Chidiya Ghar witnessed a dip taking its score to 13,691 TVT (3,885) Wah Wah Kya Baat Hai saw an improvement and rated 1,465 TVT (1,312).

  Life OK's popular mythological offering Mahadev rated 3,074 TVT (3,530). The new fiction show on the channel Do Dil Ek Jaan scored 1,700 TVT (1,792) and Savdhan India saw an improvement taking its score to 2,523 TVT (2,236).

Channel Sahara One in Week 30 rated 33,964 TVT (35,413), and continues to be at the bottom.

With regard to the movie channels genre, Zee Cinema saw an increase and reported 238,378 TVT (227,087); Star Gold rose to 203,238 TVT (198,044) ,Movies OK registered  112,714 TVT (118,524) and Max reported 215,075 TVT (215,985).

Thus we can conclude that in week 30 most of the shows on Hindi GECs have witnessed a marginal rise and fall but their loyal audiences have helped garner numbers and perked up their ratings.
