TV this week: Zee TV reclaims #2 position

Of late we have seen Colors and Zee TV alternatively bagging the no. 2 spot in the top six Hindi GEC chart. This time round, Zee TV has once again reclaimed the 2nd position on the back of increased viewership of their regular shows and displaced Colors in week 5 of TAM 2014.  An increase of 27 million TVTs minus any special programming has helped the channel push Colors to 3rd position. Nach Baliye Grand Finale on Star Plus and Filmfare Awards on Sony TV helped the respective channels pick up substantially while Life OK too added 12 million TVTs thus registering a gain in the second consecutive week. Colors and SAB TV are the only two channels to record a marginal drop in viewership this week. Data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 5, 2014 (January 26 – February  1 ) for CS 4+, HSM markets indicates Star Plus to be the incontestable leader followed by Zee, Colors, Life OK, SAB TV and Sony.

Following are the scores of the Hindi GECs for week 5, 2014 with previous week’s figures in the brackets:

Star Plus the leader among the GECs added 20 million GVMs this week and recorded 626,570 GVTs (606,361) with a relative share of 24.63% (24.75%).
Zee TV this week again at no. 2 took a huge leap in viewership and recorded 467,656 GVTs (441,168) with a relative share of 18.38% (18.01%).

Colors at no. 3 witnessed a slight drop in viewership which has led the channel to record 446,579 GVTs (449,428) with a relative share of 17.56% (18.34%).
Life OK steady at the 4th spot has garnered substantially in week 5 with a gain of 12 million TVTs to record a gross TVT of 386,659 million against last week’s GVT of 375,025 million. The channel’s relative share this week is 15.20% (15.32%) 

SAB TV at no. 5 with a marginal dip in viewership and recorded a score of 318,766    GVTs (323,148) with 12.53% (13.19%) relative share.             
Meanwhile Sony ratings registered a growth on the back of Filmfare Awards which was telecast on the channel thus recording 298,060 GVTs (253,722). The channel that has been constant at the 6th spot indicates a relative share of 11.70% (10.38%).

Sahara One with increase in viewership has registered 39,172 GVTs (36,351) in week 5, 2014 but remains at the bottom of the GEC list.
Coming to the most watched shows on the Hindi GECs:

On Star Plus ratings of Nach Baliye 6 Grand Finale registered an increase recording 6,155 TVTs (3,727) and the same can be said about epic series Mahabharat telecast from Monday through Friday which garnered 7, 136 TVTs (6,954) .

Among the most watched shows on Zee TV, Aur Pyar Ho Gaya registered a huge gain as the show recorded 4,232 TVTs (3,883), sitcom Bha se Bhade: (Sat-Sun) saw a decrease in viewership and registered 1645 TVTs (1,712). Dance India Dance 4 recorded a score of 3766 TVTs (2,974) on Saturday but apparently lost eyeballs as it recorded 3,859 TVTs (4,036) on Sunday.

The fifth edition of India’s Got Talent on Colors which showcases immense talent from all parts of the country registered an increase and recorded 7,403 TVTs (7,187). Popular show Comedy Nights with Kapil on the channel saw a downslide this week as the show registered 8,878 TVTs (10,091).
Meanwhile dance reality show Boogie Woogie Kids Championship (Sat-Sun) on Sony Entertainment Television picked up viewership as the show registered 2,758 TVTs (2,080) in week 5.

The GVTs of all the movie channels indicate a downslide this week.

Zee Cinema viewership dipped this week registering with 198,751 GVTs (221,256), Star Gold scores dropped even further this week and recorded 202,153 GVTs (211,743). Ratings of Movies OK too declined and registered 130,648 GVTs (140,490). Same can be said of movie channel &pictures the ratings of which saw a drop and registered 88,620 GVTs (93,142). Zee Anmol ratings took a plunge to register 65,415 GVTs (71,456). Max viewership diminished considerably and recorded 192,801 GVTs (230,720) as per data recorded in week 5 of TAM 2014.
