TV this week: Sony bounces back to #4

Sony Entertainment Television has jumped two ranks from its earlier status to no.4 position in week 8, 2014. The television premier of Bollywood blockbuster Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela which garnered 8900 TVTs on February 16, added 64 million TVTs thus enabling the channel to surge ahead and trade places with Life OK which has been pushed to 6th position this week. Sony, which has been in 6th position for several months now has finally bounced back to displace Life OK from its long standing 4th position. Star Plus, Colors, Zee TV, and Life OK are the GECs that have registered a dip in their viewership while SAB TV grossed 29 million TVTs and witnessed increased ratings in week 8, 2014. As per data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 8, 2014 (February 16 – February 22) for CS 4+, HSM markets, Star Plus  leads  followed by Colors, Zee, Sony, SAB TV and Life OK.

 

Detailed data of the GEC’s ratings are as follows (previous week’s figures in the brackets):

Star Plus stays at the top of the GEC chart although the channel saw a dip in its viewership to record 688 GVTs (gross TV viewership in million) (702 million) and ratings have tumbled from its high that crossed the 700 million mark for two consecutive weeks.

Colors which continues to remain at no.2 spot has recorded 502 million GVTs (504 million) this week. The channel has managed to stay above the 500 million mark
Zee TV this week saw a marginal dip in viewership as it recorded 454 million GVTs (457 million) and remains at 3rd spot.

Sony recorded an astounding 339 million GVTs (275 million). The channel has made a comeback and jumped to 4th spot after a gap of several months.
SAB TV at no. 5 took a huge leap to record a score of 326 million GVTs (297 million) indicating a steep climb of 29 million TVTs       

Life OK viewership plunged 10 million TVTs this week and the channel has slid to 6th position and recorded 318 million GVTs (328 million). 

Sahara One has recorded no change in its ratings and has registered 37 million GVTs (37 in week 8, 2014.

Star Utsav with 86000 GVTs, Zee Anmol with 65000 GVTs and Rishtey with 30000 GVTs are next in order of the list.

Star Plus launched Sunil Grover (Gutthi of Comedy Nights with Kapil fame) and Manish Paul's comedy non-fiction - 'Mad in India' - on February 16 at 9 pm. The debut of the one hour show garnered 5,700 TVTs. The channel also launched a show based on dark love stories titled 'Ishq Kills' on the same day at the 10 pm slot which opened with 1,900 TVTs.

Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus continues to be the most watched show on Hindi GECs with an average of 12,600 TVTs. It is closely followed by Zee TV's Jodha Akbar with 10,800 TVTs at 2nd spot and Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana at no.3 registered 9,800 TVTs.

Sony's Ram Leela grabbed the No. 4 spot with 8900 TVTs as Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai occupied the fifth spot with 8,500 TVTs. Colors' Comedy Nights with Kapil which fetched 8,400 TVTs is at no. 6 while SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has taken over the seventh spot followed by Star Plus' Mahabharat with 6,900 TVTs which is now at the eighth spot.

Among the other most watched shows Colors' reality talent hunt, 'India's Got Talent' clocked  6,700 TVTs and Balika Vadhu  with 6,400 TVTs ranked no.9 and no.10, respectively in week 8 of TAM.
